We had a fantastic kickoff to the summer with our pool opening on May 18. One of our own, Kendrick Dean, is a professional photographer and came by to document the event. Check out the pictures here.
With the heat kicking up, the pool has become a popular attraction. Whether you're at the Stonewall Manor pool or out and about, it's important to keep water safety in mind. Here's a few helpful reminders to keep you and your family safe in the water this summer:
With the heat kicking up, the pool has become a popular attraction. Whether you're at the Stonewall Manor pool or out and about, it's important to keep water safety in mind. Here's a few helpful reminders to keep you and your family safe in the water this summer:
- Arm's Reach, Eye's Reach: Children from birth to 6 years old should be within arm’s reach of a caregiver. Older, proficient swimmers should be within eye’s reach.
- Don’t rely on fun toys such as water wings or noodles to keep your children safe. If your child can’t swim, fit them with an appropriate personal flotation device.
- Have these items close by at all times when you or your family are using a pool or spa: portable telephone, first aid kit, flotation device.
- If a child is missing, look for him or her in the pool or spa first.
- Share safety instructions with family, friends, and neighbors.
- Learn how to swim and teach your child how to swim.
- Learn to perform CPR on children and adults, and update those skills regularly.

You've waited all winter to get out and spruce up your yard. You know those pesky people in the HOA will start sending friendly reminders and notifications of fines if you don't keep your yard in order. You are also a bit competitive and want to win Yard of the Month this year. After spending hours mowing, edging, and watering you look over the lawn and see...a dainty little yellow flower. You didn't plant that...then you realize it is NOT a flower. It's a weed and if you don't act quickly it can take over your best laid plans for a beautiful lawn.
We all dream of this...
But that's tough to achieve. Plus - we're not demanding quite this level of perfection. But it is important to maintain your yard and keep it free of weeds. To help you along the way, the ARC committee will be hosting Clean-Up day with vendors and information about products you can use to stay in compliance with our covenants. Stop by on May 18 at 3pm during the BBQ & Pool Party.

General, Important Announcements
Did you know that most thefts are committed by amateurs, often teens, who can easily be stopped with a few sensible precautions.? Check out some simple, common-sense advice from the SWM Safety / Neighborhood Watch Committee.
- Park all vehicles in your garage and/or driveway. Cars on the road present an easier target for break-ins. As an added bonus, you won't run afoul of our covenants which do not permit street parking.
- Make sure your windows are closed and your vehicle is locked. Use the key to lock your vehicle, making sure that you take it with you and do not hide a key on your vehicle.
- Keep your garage closed when you are not entering or exiting your home.
- Remove all valuables from your car, this includes pull-out stereo face plates, car phones/chargers and do not leave even a small amount of change in view, it’s an offer a desperate thief can’t refuse.
- Invest in a good alarm system and use it. Seeing a car alarm will deter most burglars and encourage them to seek easier targets.
- Do not leave your windows open, even a crack, in hot weather. There are certain burglar tools that take advantage of this practice. Instead, use an inexpensive sun shade for your front window.
- Thieves take advantage of unlighted areas. Quickly replace bulbs outside your home and report street lights outages to Georgia Power or Greystone Power.
- Participate in your community “Neighborhood Watch” program. Report suspicious activity and try to give an accurate description of persons or vehicles involved.
